Percy Faith
Percy Faith was a pop-music giant throughout the 1950's and `60s, arranging and conducting the early recordings of Tony Bennett, Doris Day, and Johnny Mathis. He also pioneered the field of pop known as Easy Listening, scoring lushly orchestrated, sweetly mellow instrumental versions of country songs, Broadway show tunes, and previous hits by other singers or instrumentalists. Faith also helped to popularize Latin influences in mainstream pop with hits such as "Delicado." As the charts changed in the `60's and `70s, Faith changed with them, applying his magic touch to hits by the Beatles, Carole King, and Santana, as well as scoring a No. 1 chart hit of his own with 1960's "(Theme From) A Summer Place."
