Michel Legrand
One of the most popular and innovative of contemporary film composers, Michel Legrand has also done great work as a jazz pianist and arranger. Born in Paris, he developed an early interst in jazz, and worked as an arranger for the likes of Miles Davis and John Coltrane in the '50s. His film composition career took off in the '60s with scores for such legendary films as THE UMBRELLAS OF CHERBOURG and MY LIFE TO LIVE. SInce then, he's scored countless films and earned a shelf full of awards.
