KC & The Sunshine Band
The quintessential 1970s disco group, hailing from the funkiest disco town (Miami), KC & the Sunshine Band had three important AM radio hits that practically define the era: "Get Down Tonight," "That's the Way (I Like It)," and "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty." The band revolved around the songwriting nucleus of Harry Wayne Casey (aka singer "KC") and Richard Finch, who went on to pen four more charting hits for the band. In 1980, KC had a hit with Teri DeSario on a mellow remake of "Yes, I'm Ready," but, as if on cue, the fairy tale was over when the disco decade officially ended. The songwriters parted ways, and although KC would make a few attempts at a chart comeback, the band has been relegated mostly to nostalgia.
