Long unavailable, FRIEND OF MINE was originally recorded in 1976, and represents the Chicago bluesman's stylish mix of blues and soul. Little Milton is in fine fettle, both as a singer and as a smooth-fingered guitarist, and is backed by a solid band and vocal support from the Haywood singers. Fiery numbers like "You're Gonna Make Me Cry" uphold Milton's electric blues pedigree, but it's on ballads like "Don't Turn Away" that the artist truly shines, turning on his deeply soulful charm in a way that always hits home.
Tracklist
Little Milton
Little Milton was a soul/blues singer with roots in the Mississippi Delta. His cheerful persona, gritty, impassioned vocal style, and precise, textured guitar playing earned him great respect over his long career. Milton took a stab at funk in the '70s, but returned to the blues and was duly rewarded when blues saw a resurgence of interest in the '90s. The Blues Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy Nominee passed away in 2005 at the age of 71.
