With LOS AGUACATES DE JIQUILPAN, Akwid's third record for Univision, the Gomez Brothers continue to explore the trail blazed by fellow Los Angelinos Cypress Hill and the Latino Velvet crew. On this diverse record, the Latin-hip-hop duo cleverly incorporates a Tejano torch song into a rugged rap ("Anda y Ve"), as well as pulling off N.W.A.-inspired Spanish-language rhymes (as on "Yo No Se" and the excellent opening eponymous track).
