Killing Joke: Jaz Coleman (vocals); Geordie (guitar); Paul Raven (bass instrument); Paul Ferguson (drums).
English post-punk legends Killing Joke have a long catalogue of challenging, cathartic music behind them, with excursions into styles ranging from punk to new wave to punishing industrial metal. Though they've long flown under the radar in America, famous fans such as Dave Grohl and Metallica have endorsed this band's unique portrayal of atomic age angst. LOVE LIKE BLOOD is yet another missing piece of the band's story that arrives as part of a wave of reissues in the wake of a critical reassessment. Recorded in 1985, at the height of Killing Joke's artistic and commercial powers, LOVE LIKE BLOOD chronicles the band performing live in Germany. The long-unavailable album has been carefully remastered and adds two bonus live tracks from a London show on the same tour. Classic songs like "Eighties" and "Requiem" show the band in fine, ferocious form.
Tracklist
Killing Joke
Born out of the fires of England's first wave of post-punk, proto-industrial Killing Joke was always somehow apart from their contemporaries. Their music was harsher, their lyrics were angrier, and they had a penchant for heavy metal's guitar thunder. Those things never changed, and their sound never softened. Over the years, however, Killing Joke has incorporated dance and techno tropes, allowing them to vent at new and varied audiences. In 2003, the band's original lineup of Jaz Coleman, Geordie, and Youth reunited, backed by Raven and former Nirvana drummer/Foo Fighters leader Dave Grohl.
