Inspired by spiritual leaders such as the Dalai Lama and others, composer Terry Oldfield sets out here to create music that draws on the forces of goodness and human kindness. In his liner notes, Oldfield alludes to the ongoing violence in the Middle East. He also implies that these nine tracks are meant to promote love, tolerance and understanding.
Like much of his previous work, Oldfield often uses nature as his backdrop. For example, on "Stream," his flute is accompanied by the sound of trickling water and birds chirping. "Shadows Dancing" is another track that uses nature sound effects. Here, the sound of a jungle (at night) acts as the composition's tranquil introduction. Compared to some of Oldfield's previous endeavors, this album is stripped down and austere. And unlike his earlier album TURNING POINT there are no vocal tracks or attempts at pop singles found here either. In contrast, Oldfield simply highlights his exquisite and sensitive flute playing as well as his ability to write atmospheric music that overflows with attractive musical colors and textures.

Terry Oldfield
A prolific and self-taught flautist, percussionist, and composer, Terry Oldfield looms as large in the world of New Age music as his younger brother Mike looms in prog-rock. Formerly a sideman for his brother, the elder Oldfield stepped into his own spotlight in 1986 with the release of CASCADE, followed in the same year by the critically acclaimed REVERENCE. The British-born Oldfield went on to release album after album of meditative music, the most popular of which proved to be his musical travelogues, which feature traditional sounds infused with Oldfield's own sense of melodic intrigue. He has also scored films for theatrical release and television and collaborated with his sister, vocalist Sally Oldfield.
