Tracklist
Gucci Mane
Atlanta-based Dirty South MC Gucci Mane made a name for himself with his 2004 debut indie release, TRAP HOUSE, which featured the popular and ultimately controversial single "Icey." The song, a duet with chief snowman Young Jeezy, sparked a major feud between the two that played out via the underground mixtape circuit, but eventually escalated to violence and run-ins with the law for Mane. Nonetheless, Mane was able to make the jump from the independent Cat House label to Atlantic Records for 2007's BACK TO THE TRAP HOUSE.
Young Jeezy
Atlanta-based rapper Young Jeezy was a journeyman MC, having put in time with Bad Boy Entertainment's Boyz N Da Hood, as a soloist on Def Jam, and as a staple of the underground mixtape world. The release of 2005's THUG MOTIVATION VOL.1, however, rocketed Jeezy (aka the Snowman) up the pop charts, peaking at number two. Jeezy's style is straightforward yet potent; his tracks are marked by a cinematic style of ATL crunk that's heavy on the drama factor; and while his lyrics are dominated by tales of the coke trade, Jeezy's Teflon street cred dispels any accusations of posturing. He released THE INSPIRATION in late 2006 to much acclaim.
