Billy Farlow was a principal songwriter and driving musical force for Commander Cody and His Lost Planet Airmen, but this set collects two discs' worth of the veteran rocker's pre- and post-Airmen work. Disc one finds Farlow fronting the stomping white-boy blues outfit Billy C & the Sunshine in revolution-hungry late-'60s Detroit, while disc two skips ahead over a decade and features sides Farlow cut with Stu Cook and Doug Clifford of CCR, as well as a live set from 1979 that presents Farlow as a world-weary analogue to Tony Joe White, with its gritty amalgam of blues, country, and soul.
