Recorded, as the title suggests, in 1952 in the then-novel medium of stereophonic sound at Chicago's famous Blue Note Club, this lengthy, freewheeling set features the big-band innovator Stan Kenton leading his orchestra through a lyrical and exhilarating program. Highlights include the atmospheric rumba "Francesca," a sweetly sentimental reading of "All the Things You Are," and a lovely Lee Konitz saxophone solo on "Lover Man," as well as typically fiery Kenton arrangements on "Graettinger '52" and "Sweets."
