Qntal IV

OZYMANDIAS, Qntal's fourth release, continues the group's exploration of medieval and Celtic themes. Fans of Qntal's previous albums will find much to appreciate here, and the addition of English-language lyrics and electronica flourishes (the jig "Cupido," for example, has an almost danceable, techno-flavored beat) should broaden Qntal's appeal. A dark, chilly atmosphere prevails throughout much of OZYMANDIAS, yet there is also a peaceful, calming aspect to contemplative airs like "Vogelfluc" and "Dulcis Amor." High-energy tunes like "Amor Volat" borrow from the energy of rock and New Wave, proving Qntal's ability to bridge the ancient past and the cutting-edge present in powerful, intriguing ways.
