Fuck Buttons: Andrew Hung, Benjamin John Power.
Bristol, England's Fuck Buttons followed up their acclaimed 2007 single, BRIGHT TOMORROW, with their debut full-length, STREET HORRRSING. Previously labeled a "noise band," the group heard here is, while challenging, certainly more accessible: Players Andrew Hung and Benjamin John Power create warm and welcoming soundscapes carved out of repetitive, rhythmic drones and menacing synths. Produced by John Cummings of Mogwai and mastered by Bob Weston of Shellac, the album is mostly instrumental, though creepy screamo-inspired vocals weave in and out of songs, as tracks bleed from one into another and progress as an organic whole. Opener "Sweet Love for Planet Earth" sounds just like its name suggests: a suitable soundtrack for the exploration of a planet the natural beauty of which the players obviously hold in high esteem. In fact, STREET HORRRSING could be the perfect accompaniment to the last third of Kubrick's 2001: an aural journey over rainbow vistas and through clandestine caves, as yet undiscovered.

Fuck Buttons
Forming Fuck Buttons in Bristol, England in 2004, Andrew Hung and Benjamin John Power were noise assaultists who in their experiments with fierce drones came across something quite the opposite: comfort and beauty. Using their blissful, supersonic pulses to immerse the listener's senses and evoke an emotional response, the duo earned serious underground and internet accolades for their November 2007 debut 7", "Bright Tomorrow," in the process. 2008 saw the release of their debut full-length on All Tomorrow's Parties Records, STREET HORRRSING--a gorgeously in-the-red epic that built on the strengths of the single--and burgeoning success on the live circuit, including their label's infamous festivals.
